St. Andrew Preschool is Proud to be Connected to the Community!

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Suffolk welcomes you to worship God with us, grow in your relationship with Christ and share the Spirit of the Lord across the street and around the globe. Our congregation lives out a set of spiritual core values that guide all we do as a church.

Virginia Quality Initiative w/ Smart Beginnings

This is an exciting time for St. Andrew Staff and Families. St. Andrew has chosen to participate in the Virginia Quality program with Smart Beginnings. The VQI was created to help families find high quality child care programs. Children in high quality child care settings are more successful in school and life, so choosing a quality program is one of the most important decisions families can make. By selecting a program with a VQI rating, you can be confident that your child is in good hands.

Early Childhood Development Commission

The Early Childhood Development Commission (ECDC) support provides numerous training opportunities for our preschool directors and staff. St. Andrew is a central location for childcare centers and families in Northern Suffolk.  This makes it a convenient location for quality parent and teacher training events including Behavior Management, Brain Development, Positive Discipline 101’s, Healthy eating and much more.  Watch for special offerings in partnership with ECDC throughout the year.

Suffolk Public Library

We are very happy to host the Suffolk Public Library each month.  Each class enjoys a variety of Children’s Literature told by the gifted storytellers of the library.  Puppets and flannel boards bring the stories alive as children listen, sing and enjoy.  Each month, the library sends over a collection of books relating to the thematic units that are being covered.

Department of Social Services

St. Andrew Preschool is licensed as a Religiously Exempt Child Daycare Center. We must submit certain documents to the Virginia Department of Social Services annually. These documents include:

  • Statement of intent
  • Certification of tax-exempt status
  •  Local health and fire reports
  • Verification of required staff/child ratio and staff health reports
  •  Statement showing the facility is in compliance with other health and safety requirements in the Code.
